Assignment for week 2 task 2

It's been only recently that I have taken an interest in writing. Actually it's been my husband and father who have put the bug in my ear about my writing. It might be interesting to really explore this class beyond the normal just muddle through it mentality to see if there is any merit to me writing.

I have edited my father's disertation and many of his technical papers and such. I have written many personal, for lack of better words, short stories about things, events that have an impact on me.

I typically write on a personal level to simply get the thoughts out of my head. Otherwise, they stay in there and occupy my brain time. I suppose it's a way of working through my thoughts. Typically when I write for personal I write, then throw away or put away where (I thought) no one would find them. However, there have been a few that I have shared with my husband. He has said that there is emotion in my personal writing. It might be interesting to see if I can come up with work that someone might be able to read, and that I wouldn't mind others reading.

I like to edit technical papers, at least my fathers. I think there are a lot of very interesting topics that can be explored. I figure I can read and learn about many topics. When editing a person has to have some knowledge base, or will have to do some research to gain a basic understanding of the topic in order to insure the information presented makes appropriate sense and that the writers stated point is made. Perhaps I can make some money at it in the future????

Jackie Watson has a class on technical writing, and I believe she has professional experience as a technical writer.

Perhaps you would like to investigate technical writing as a project in this class. Thank you for your reflections today!
